About Elaine

My first experience of psychotherapy in 2004 brought a liberation from old beliefs and patterns that limited me personally and professionally. I knew this was something that I wanted to share. But it was only when I started learning about the role of the body and breath in supporting growth and mental health that I felt I truly came home to myself.

This approach integrates insights from neuroscience, psychology, mindfulness and hypnotherapy with ancient wisdom traditions of yoga, Tibetan Buddhism, and other mind-body practices. Something changed for me at a fundamental level, beyond the parts that talking therapy had reached. I felt embodied and present. I felt open, resilient and in control of emotions. It was time to transform.

I trained with Heather Mason at The Minded Institute on the Professional Yoga Therapy Diploma Programme, and now serve as an Advisory Board member and Supervision Lead. I have a BA in Philosophy from UCL, and PGCert in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from UEL. In between I have undertaken numerous professional mind-body, mental health, and psychotherapy trainings that have influenced and shaped my own offering of Integrative Therapy.

I divide my time between my private practice, working with clients on an individual basis in London and online, and with small groups and individual clients for a charity supporting women with histories of trauma. I provide supervision for other clinical practitioners and am certified in embodied supervision.

I am co-course director and lecturer on The Minded Institute’s innovative Diploma in Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy.

My therapeutic approach is humanistic and person-centred at root: the quality of the relationship between client and therapist is the most important aspect, building trust and safety through non-judgement and empathic listening. In addition to mind-body practices, I draw from Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Internal Family Systems, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Jungian approaches.
